The Tokyo Marathon, a renowned annual event, attracted a record-breaking 50,000 runners globally. Starting from the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building in Shinjuku, participants showcased colorful costumes. Spectators enjoyed the race, with many opting to watch on TV due to its lengthy duration. The supportive atmosphere at the finish line in Tokyo Station left a lasting impression.
During cherry blossom season, known as “hanami,” Japanese people gather with friends, family, or coworkers to enjoy the blooming trees. Hanami involves strolling in parks or streets, often accompanied by meals or drinks under cherry blossoms. The timing of blooming varies regionally, with festivities continuing day and night amidst lantern-lit beauty.
Continuous rain makes it difficult for laundry to dry outdoors, especially in Japanese households where dryers are uncommon. Indoor drying, known as “room drying,” becomes necessary during rainy spells. However, in small spaces, like my room, drying laundry can be challenging and time-consuming, often resulting in lingering dampness and odors.
Persistent rain triggers migraines for me, a long-standing issue since childhood. Carrying pills is essential, as timely intake is crucial for relief. Today, as headaches struck, I promptly took medication. Early administration is key; without pills or delayed ingestion, relief is elusive. I advise using an ice pillow and resting for persistent headaches.
Over the weekend, I reunited with my family in Osaka, a rare occasion due to our scattered residences. We marveled at the bustling tourist influx, notably from Korea, a stark contrast to the pandemic-induced lull. Attending Ed Sheeran’s concert at Kyocera Dome, though distant, his music was captivating. Ending with yakitori at an izakaya, it was a delightful day. Resting early for tomorrow.
