Why This Heated Table Is So Popular in Japan

【English Translation】
When winter comes, there is something often used in Japanese homes—that is the heated table called kotatsu! It’s a small table with a heater attached underneath, and a blanket is placed over the top. When you put your legs inside, it gets very warm and cozy.
Using it is very simple. You just turn on the power, and the heater inside begins to warm up. In winter, houses in Japan get very cold, and using an air conditioner for heating costs a lot of electricity and doesn’t make the air feel very nice.
That’s why I think the heated table is the best. The air in the room stays clean, but only the inside becomes warm, so it feels just right (this is just my opinion haha). This year, I bought my first heated table!
Cheaper ones start around 20,000 yen, and the more expensive ones can be around 100,000 yen. Recently, there are many different styles, including small ones for one person, so please try it out!
