今日は、日本の家についてしょうかいします。日本には、でんとうてきな家があります。これは「和風の家」といいます。

畳
日本のへやには、たたみがあります。たたみは、「いぐさ」というくさでつくられています。やわらかくて、はだざわりがいいです。たたみのへやでは、くつをぬいで、すわったり、ねたりします。

襖と障子
日本の家には、ふすまやしょうじがあります。ふすまは、すべてがかみでできたドアのようなもので、へやをくぎるのにつかいます。白やくろのシンプルなもようが多いです。
しょうじは、うすいかみがはってあるまどやドアです。ひかりをとおして、へやの中があかるくなります。

縁側
えんがわは、へやとにわのあいだにある小さいろうかのようなばしょです。外を見ながら、おちゃをのんだり、ゆっくりしたりできます。

お風呂
日本の家のおふろは、あらいばとゆぶねがわかれています。体をあらってから、おふろに入ります。おふろは、毎日入る人が多いです。

布団
ベッドではなく、ふとんをつかう人もいます。ふとんは、ねるときにたたみの上にしくものです。朝になると、たたんでしまいます。

日本の家は、しずかで、しぜんといっしょにすごせるところです。たたみやしょうじ、ふすまなど、日本だけのとくべつなぶんかがたくさんあります。日本に行ったら、ぜひ和風の家にとまってみてくださいね！

ベッドではなく、ふとんをつかう人ひともいます。ふとんは、ねるときにたたみの上うえにしくものです。朝あさになると、たたんでしまいます。

日本にほんの家いえは、しずかで、しぜんといっしょにすごせるところです。たたみやしょうじ、ふすまなど、日本にほんだけのとくべつなぶんかがたくさんあります。日本にほんに行いったら、ぜひ和風わふうの家いえにとまってみてくださいね！

Today, I’d like to introduce Japanese houses. In Japan, there are traditional-style houses. These are called “wafu no ie” (Japanese-style houses).

Tatami

Many Japanese rooms have tatami mats. Tatami is made from a plant called igusa (rush grass). It’s soft and feels nice to the touch. In a tatami room, people take off their shoes and sit or sleep directly on the floor.

Fusuma and Shoji

In Japanese houses, there are fusuma and shoji. Fusuma are sliding doors made completely of paper and are used to divide rooms. They often have simple patterns in white or black.

Shoji are windows or doors with thin paper stretched over a wooden frame. They let light through and make the room brighter.

Engawa

An engawa is a narrow wooden space between the room and the garden, like a hallway. You can relax there, drink tea, and enjoy the view outside.

Bath

Japanese houses have a washing area and a bathtub. You wash your body first, and then enter the tub. Many people in Japan take a bath every day.

Futon

Instead of beds, some people use futons. A futon is laid out on top of tatami when it’s time to sleep. In the morning, it is folded and put away.

Japanese houses are quiet and allow you to live in harmony with nature. Tatami, shoji, fusuma, and other features are part of Japan’s unique culture. If you ever visit Japan, be sure to stay in a traditional Japanese-style house!
