For example, while white chocolate is a classic choice, more people are now giving cookies, cakes, and other sweets. Some also choose to gift luxury brand accessories or bags.

In Japan, there is a custom called sanbai-gaeshi (triple return). This means that the return gift should be about three times the value of the Valentine’s Day gift received. However, in recent years, the focus has shifted away from the monetary value, emphasizing the importance of expressing gratitude instead.

White Day is one of Japan’s unique cultural traditions. Recently, it has become common not only to exchange gifts between couples but also to give presents to friends and family. Additionally, when receiving giri choco (obligatory chocolates) on Valentine’s Day, it is customary to give a small return gift as a giri-gaeshi (obligatory return gift).
