In Japan, people often say “〇〇 no aki” (〇〇の秋) in autumn! This expression describes things people enjoy during autumn. There are lots of delicious foods in autumn. Also, the weather is cooler, so it’s nice to go outside! Today, I’ll introduce four common “〇〇 no aki” expressions.
🌰 Shokuyoku no Aki — Autumn of Appetite
In autumn, there are lots of delicious foods, such as sweet potatoes, chestnuts, persimmons, grapes, and mushrooms. In Japan, we call seasonal foods that are at their best “shun” (旬). Many people enjoy eating foods that are in season in autumn!
📚 Dokusho no Aki — Autumn of Reading
Cool autumn weather is perfect for taking your time and reading a book. I like reading books under the autumn sky! It feels so nice. You can also enjoy relaxing at home with a warm drink and your favorite book.
🖼 Geijutsu no Aki — Autumn of Art
Autumn is also a great season for drawing and listening to music. You can enjoy “autumn of art” by visiting an art museum to see paintings or going to a concert to listen to your favorite music!
