Japan’s Cost of Living Crisis: What People Are Facing Now

【English Translation】
Recently, the prices of gasoline and food have been rising in Japan. One reason for this is the situation in Iran. Although it is happening in a country far away, it is connected to Japan’s economy and our daily lives.
First, gasoline prices have been increasing. Japan imports a large amount of oil from other countries. However, because problems are occurring in the sea near Iran, it has become more difficult to transport oil. When gasoline prices go up, it does not only affect drivers. The cost of transporting food and other products by truck also increases.
In addition, Japan imports many products and raw materials from overseas. However, shipping delays and difficulties with imports have been occurring. As a result, there are concerns that some products may become harder to obtain.
Electricity and gas bills are also becoming more expensive. Because the amount of money needed for daily life is increasing, many people feel that life is becoming more difficult.
It is still unclear when the situation in Iran will come to an end. However, this issue is having a significant impact on life in Japan as well.
Have you noticed prices increasing recently?
