【English Translation】

In Japanese schools, there is a “Sports Day” every year. It usually takes place in September or October! Students split into the red team and the white team, and they enjoy running and competing in different events. Teachers and parents also cheer together, making it a very lively day!

There are many kinds of events at Sports Day, but the famous ones are the relay race, the “Ōdama-korogashi,” where everyone rolls a huge ball together, and the “Kumi-taiso,” an acrobatic performance that students do as a group.

And one fun part is the “cheering squad”! They wear the school uniform, tie on a headband, and cheer loudly for their team. Actually, I was also a member of the cheering squad when I was a student.

Eating lunch outside with family and friends is also a wonderful memory! The lunchboxes usually have simple foods like rice balls and rolled omelets, but on Sports Day they somehow taste even better.
