English Translation
It’s almost December! Japan has become very cold. In Hokkaido, it’s already snowing a lot! There may be colder countries, but for me, it feels extremely cold.
How do Japanese people get through this cold winter?
When we talk about winter fashion in Japan… it’s all about UNIQLO’s “Heattech”!
Heattech is very thin, so you wear it as the innermost layer. There are many designs, too! And it’s really warm. Most people wear this during winter!
And did you know that in Japanese, “to wear” is not only kiru (to wear)?
For items worn on the upper body such as coats, sweaters, and Heattech, we use kiru.
For items worn on the lower body like pants, tights, and boots, we use haku.
For hats, we say kaburu, and for gloves or scarves, we use suru.
When wrapping a scarf around your neck, we can also say maku.
For example, on a cold day, you wear Heattech, then a sweater and a coat. Before going outside, you put on gloves, wrap a scarf, and put on boots to stay warm.
Please take care of your health too!
