Hello everyone!
When people think of Japanese tea, matcha is probably the first thing that comes to mind. I’m sure many of you know it! But Japan has many kinds of tea besides matcha.
Today, I’d like to introduce three popular teas in Japan!
1. Green Tea (Ryokucha)
Green tea is the most popular tea in Japan.
People drink it at home, at school, and in restaurants. Both hot and cold green tea are delicious! It has a slightly bitter taste, but it is a tea that is very familiar to Japanese people.
2. Barley Tea (Mugicha)
Barley tea is especially popular during the summer.
It contains no caffeine and is usually served cold. In many Japanese homes, you’ll often find a pitcher of mugicha in the refrigerator.
3. Hojicha
Hojicha is a brown-colored roasted tea.
It has a wonderful aroma. Drinking a warm cup of hojicha in winter can be very comforting. It is also commonly enjoyed with meals.
Did you know these three teas?
Matcha may be famous, but there are many other delicious teas in Japan. If you visit Japan, be sure to give them a try!
